Licensing & Open Data

ConvertReference is built to be both a practical tool for everyday use and a reliable source of structured data. This page explains how our datasets, calculators, and written content are licensed, and what that means if you want to reuse or build on top of our work.

1. Open Data and Conversion Dataset

The underlying unit conversion data that powers ConvertReference is released under the CC0 1.0 Public Domain Dedication, unless otherwise stated. In practice, this means you are free to:

  • Copy, modify, and redistribute the dataset

  • Use it for commercial or non-commercial purposes

  • Integrate it into software, research, or AI systems

Attribution is not legally required under CC0, but we appreciate a simple credit such as “Data from ConvertReference.org” and a link back to the site where practical.

2. Website Content, UI, and Brand

Except where explicitly marked otherwise, the text content, page layouts, design elements, and branding on ConvertReference (including our name and logo) are protected by copyright and related rights.

You may:

  • Link to our pages freely

  • Quote brief excerpts with clear attribution to ConvertReference.org

You may not:

  • Reuse our logo or branding in a way that suggests endorsement or affiliation

  • Bulk-copy our written explanations, page layouts, or design and present them as your own

If you’d like to reuse substantial portions of our written content or design, please contact us first.

3. Using ConvertReference in Apps, Research, and AI Systems

You are welcome to use our CC0 dataset in applications, dashboards, research projects, or AI systems, including for commercial use, as long as you respect any applicable laws and do not misrepresent the source.

We ask that you:

  • Avoid implying that ConvertReference endorses or operates your product

  • Clearly handle your own support, uptime, and risk management

  • Review our Legal / Terms page for disclaimers and limitations of liability
